TransQuip are excited to announce the Sale of the Commercial Vehicle Repairs and Maintenance part of the business to Kelvin Elliffe who will be trading as TranzParts! This includes most of our:

1. Commercial Vehicle Mirrors

2. OE Lamps

3. Lashing

4. Lubrication

This will leave us focusing on the products used by the Commercial Vehicle Fit Out sector. Our Guardian range for Civil Contractors is not affected by this change.

The settlement date for this transition is April 1, 2025.

If you have an active TransQuip credit account, you will automatically be set up with a TranzParts credit account, so you can purchase off them immediately. We understand this change will take some time to work out so feel free to contact us with any questions.

Where TransQuip began?

Founder, Brian Townshend opened Motorwell Services in Rangiora in 1973. The small but bustling enterprise serviced and repaired cars, trucks, tractors, and machinery for the town and nearby farms.

Over the years, as the Townshend family grew and prospered, the business expanded. Brian’s sons, Richard, Mark, and Lincoln soon followed in their father’s footsteps. The business developed to include transport industry staples; First mirrors, then truck and safety lightning, and alloy ramps. TransQuip was born.

In 2002, Motorwell Services was sold and TransQuip became the sole focus for the Townshends’ considerable energies. Site gear, including trench shields became an integral part of the company. The flourishing family-owned company continued to drive positive change and work to advance the industries it serves nationwide, with staff based around the country.

Then it came to a point where we needed change again…

Why we made the change:

In 2023 we engaged in a comprehensive marketing strategy project, which included interviews with our customers and in-depth market research. While working through this process, we were repeatedly challenged with a question – what was our focus?

It slowly dawned on us, that while we had a huge amount of industry and product knowledge, we were to thinly spread over the far-reaching Commercial Vehicle Industry. To continue our growth, we realized we needed to have more focus, become more specialized, and home in on what we do best. This shift has led us to focus on the Commercial Vehicle Fit-out market.

After careful consideration, and weighing up what is best for our customers, we decided to sell the repairs and maintenance part of the business. While we were initially hesitant and attached to these products (as they were a core part of TransQuip’s early days) we understood that focusing on our new direction was key to our long-term success.

To ensure these products would continue to thrive, we began searching for the right buyer and found Kelvin, the perfect trusted partner from Tranzparts. He is enthusiastic about the future and, we believe, is well-positioned to take this part of the business to new heights.

We will be working closely with Kelvin and his team at Tranzparts to transition this change as smoothly as possible, who will continue to sell these products nationwide.
