Mark from the TransQuip team has made an easy-to-follow video that shows how quick and simple it is to fit one of our top-hinge toolboxes with draws and shelves to a ute.
Watch it here or read below; we'll break it down for you.

People:
You'll need two people to fit these.
Equipment:
Top-hinge toolbox such as our TA1200 or TS1200 & the TSD05 draw set & TSS1200 or TSS600 shelves.
Bolts provided with draws and shelves
Total Assembly Time:
Approx 10min with two people.
How To:
Putting the box on the ute:
Step one.
Unpack your top hinge toolbox of choice
In the video we use TA1200, these come in a 1200mm long or 1400mm long and you can also get them in steel, which is a TS1200.
Step two.
For one sided toolboxes eg TA1200 place the toolbox on the desired side or your Ute, with the door facing outward, as close to the edge as possible without blocking the side gates to fold up, we recommend at least two people to lift the toolbox. Please note it is the fitters’ responsibility to make sure the toolbox is attached properly to the Vehicle itself.
The TSDL700 goes right across the back of the Ute, and has a door at each end so you can access it from both sides of the Ute deck. You can also fit up to 4 shelves which go through the centre of this toolbox and come with bolts so you can bolt them straight in the same way as the draws on a TA1200 toolbox.
Adding shelves & drawers:
Step one.
Unpack your shelves and/or drawers.
Step two.
Open the box by pulling the T latch out toward you so it is standing up and then twist it to the right to unlock the toolbox. Do the same to the other latch and then pull the door towards you and it will open the rest of the way on its gas struts. The toolbox is now ready to fit with draws and shelves as fits your requirements.
Step three.
First, we demonstrate fitting shelves, which are the entire width of the toolbox and come as an extra. The part number for these is TSS1200, and you can fit up to 4 shelves, which come with bolts already supplied in the kit.
To fit these shelves, you line up the front and back oval bolt holes on the side of the shelf with the two bolt holes on the beams on the inside of the toolbox. Then pass the supplied bolt through these holes and screw them up tight, do this on both ends of the shelf to hold it in place.
Step four.
Fitting drawers:
Also, with these toolboxes, you can get set of 5 drawers TSD05 as an extra, which slot straight into the box and come with bolts to hold them in place.
To fit these, put the drawer in on one side of the toolbox.
Step five.
Then take out the top and 4th drawers so you can secure the frame to the side of the toolbox. To do this you pull the silver leaver that’s attached to the pins that keep the draw in place (as pictured below), toward the centre of the draw, so it comes out of the hole keeping it in place.
Then pull the draw out by pressing the small black lever on the side of each drawer which slides back to release the drawer so it can come completely out, and lift it slightly so it comes off its slides.
Step six.
Now you have the draws removed from the frame you can line up the holes at the back of the frame with the holes in the beams on the side of the toolbox and pass the supplied bolts through and wind them up tight to hold the draw frame in place. Do this at the top and bottom of the frame for best stability and strength.
Step seven.
Once the set of drawers are secure put the draws back in. Lower the draw down onto its rail and then pushing it back in and securing with the silver pins on the sides to keep it in place while moving.
Step eight.
You can also get half shelves that are 600mm that can go in beside the draw frame to utilise all the space in the toolbox, you can also get up to four of these shelves, but in this set-up we are just using two.
These shelves also come with bolts supplied and are fitted to the side of the toolbox, the same as the large shelves and are then fitted to the side of the draw frame which has points to secure the small shelves in place the same as the side of the toolbox.
